Shivantha reelected president, SLDCA
Shivantha Vivekanandan was elected uncontested as President, Sri
Lanka Deaf Cricket Association for the fourth successive year at the
Annual General Meeting held at the De Soysa Stadium, Moratuwa recently.
Vivekanandan played a key role in promoting leather ball cricket
tournaments in Division III organized by Sri Lanka Cricket. He attended
the Asia Deaf Cricket Federation Conference held in India in 2006, where
he was elected as the Vice Chairman, Asia Deaf Cricket Federation from
2006 to date.
He toured India with the Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket team for the 1st Deaf
Cricket Asia Cup in 2007 and also toured Pakistan in 2008 with the Sri
Lanka Deaf Cricket team, to play the 3 ODI matches.
Vivekanandan is also the President, Deaf School Past Pupils'
Association, The School for the Deaf, Ratmalana where he developed many
projects for his Alma Mater and he organized the Deaf Schools Sports
Activities, Cricket, Netball and Volleyball (Boys & Girls), partnered by
the Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC from 2002 to date. Also, he is an
Individual member, World Federation of the Deaf from 2011.
