A State level Bodhi Pooja will be held blessing on the tsunami affected people in Japan and pass merit on the victims, on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The national program will be held at Temple Trees tomorrow at 6 pm. Organizers will telecast this program to Japan live.

There will be special religious programs in 24 places covering all districts parallel to the main religious program at Temple Trees.

Religious activitiy will be held in, Colombo - Bellanvila Rajamaha Viharaya, Gampaha - Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya, Kalutara - Kalutara Bodhi, Kandy - Temple of the tooth relic, Matale - Alu Viharaya, Polonnauwa - Gal Viharaya, Badulla Mahiyangana Temple - Moneragala - Kataragama Kirivehera, Kegalle - Mahindodaya Pirivena, Ratnapura - Ratnapura Saman Devalaya, Mulaitivu - Mankulama Sri Sugatha Viharaya, Trincomalee - Seruwavila Rajamaha Viharaya, Kurunegala Bauddhaloka Pirivena, Puttalam - Puttalam Buddhist Centre, Anuradhapuraya - Sri Maha Bodhi, Nuwara Eliya - Nuwara Eliya Buddhist Centre, Galle - Unawatuna Yatagala Hettawala Pirivena, Matara - Matara Bodhi, Hambantota - Tissamaharama Rajamaha Vihara, Jaffna - Nagadeepa Rajamaha Vihara, Kilinochchi - Kilinochchi Lumbini Vihara, Mannar - Mannarama Sri Swarnathilakarama, Vavuniya - Atambagaskada Sudharamarama ancient Temple.

This was revealed at a press conference at the Government Information Department Narahenpita.

Annunayake Siyam Maha Nikaya Malwatu Chapter Most Ven Niyangoda Vigithasiri said the Japanese tsunami revealed the impermanence of the world. It is the duty of all Sri Lankans to invoke merit on those affected by the Japanese tsunami.

Siyam Maha Nikaya Asgiri Chapter General Secretary Most Ven Anamaduwe Dhammadassi Thera said that as Buddhists, Sri Lankans should invoke blessings on those affected by the calamity.

Ven Watinapaha Somananda Thera said Pinkamas have to be held in all temples.

Nippon Education and Cultural Centre Secretary Ven Meegahatenne Chandrasiri Thera said Japan is one of the closest friends of Sri Lanka.
