Japan quake, tsunami:

Prelates express sorrow

The Mahanayake Theras of Malwatu, Asgiri, Amarapura and Ramanya chapters yesterday expressed their profound sorrow to the people of Japan over the devastation caused by the tsunami.

Mahanayakas of Malwatu Chapter Most Ven Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera, Asgiri Chapter Most Ven Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera, Ramanya Nikaya Most Ven Weweldeniye Medhalankara Thera and Amarapura Maha Nikaya Most Ven Dawuldena Gnanessara Thera in a statement said Sri Lanka and Japan enjoy cordial relations.

The statement said that Japan has helped to uplift the lives of people in Sri Lanka for many years.

They wished those injured by the tidal waves that struck some parts of Japan recover speedily. The Mahanayake Theras said that they believe that Japan can rise from the debris of tsunami soon.
