Prof Peiris to visit Czech Republic

External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris will visit the Czech Republic on the invitation of Czech Republic Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Karel Schwarzenberg from March 26 to 30.

This is the first high-level visit from Sri Lanka to the Czech Republic in recent years.

During the official visit, Prof Peiris will meet with Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, Industry and Trade Minister Martin Kocourek, Finance Minister Miroslav Kalousek, First Deputy Minister of Defence Jiri Sedivy and Czech Parliament Chairwoman of the Chamber of Deputies Miroslava Nemcova.

He will also have an interaction with the Inter-parliamentary Group of Friends of Sri Lanka.

The Minister will address the Czech-Sri Lanka Investment Forum at the International Chamber of Commerce to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation in Sri Lanka and the Czech Republic.

Representatives of the Czech Business and Investment Sectors will be present at this Forum. During the visit Prof Peiris and the Czech Minister of Finance will sign an Agreement for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investment between Sri Lanka and the Czech Republic.
