Pressure on ASI

More bullish pressure was building on ASI when it wounded up its operations on Friday.

ASI jumped 23.52 points (+0.33 percent) to end at 7,240.27 while more sensitive MPI closed at 6,838.02, up 44.43 points (+0.65 percent).

Heavy trading was witnessed in Sierra Cables Plc on the verge of market close.

Sierra Cable turned out to be the top contributor to the turnover at Rs 214.0 million.

Aitken Spence Plc (Rs 179.6 million) and Colombo Pharmacy Plc (174.1 million) made strong contributions to the daily turnover.

Guardian Capital Partners Plc, Ascot holdings Plc and Lankem Development Plc were heavily traded.
