Five scholarships for top Lankan shuttlers

Asian Badminton Confederation (ABC) granted five scholarships to Sri Lanka national level shuttlers recently.

The scholarships were awarded in line with the Asian Development Training program 2011.

Accordingly a sum of Rs 17,25,000 has been (Rs 345,000 each ) allocated by ABC for five badminton players to participate in international training programs and tournaments.

Sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage handed, over the scholarship documents to Dinuka Karunaratne, Nuwan Hettiarachchi, Achini Rathnasiri, Upuli Samanthika, and Thilini Jayasinghe at the sports ministry.

The scholarships are of great importance for Sri Lankan shuttlers to prepare and get international training for 2018 Commonwealth Games which is to be held in Sri Lanka.
