Minister orders report

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has ordered to prepare a detailed report on all private medical institutions operating in the country including collecting centres, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the collecting centres operated by untrained persons cause damage to the public by mishandling, especially patients with diabetics when obtaining blood samples for testing. Mishandling a diabetes patient while obtaining blood for testing may lead to amputation.
