Imperialist nations should immediately halt the bombardment of Libya and intervention in its domestic affairs said Ven Prof Kamburugamuwe Vajira Thera, Chancellor, Sabaragamuwa University and Inter Religious Alliance for National Unity President at a press conference held at the Libyan Cultural Centre, Colombo 7 on Wednesday.

The press conference was held to protest against the attack on Libya by the Imperialist forces.

Ven Vajira thera said this showed that the people dedicated for world peace have themselves resorted to genocide. "We should all for the sake of peace condemn the human slaughter carried out by the Imperialists.

He said Libya is an independent nation which had safeguard its independence and natural pride for many years. Countries pretending to be world powers were trying to suppress Middle East countries by creating internal problems in them. Muammar Gaddafi is a fearless leader and Libya had not done any wrong to invite foreign intervention.

Ven Galagama Dhammaransi thera said Gaddafi is a friend of Sri Lanka. Who openly supported Sri Lanka in suppressing terrorism.

"We call upon Western powers to stop this human slaughter and allow Libyans to live in peace managing their own affairs. Ven Palipane Wimaladhamma thera said it was strange to see the UN supporting the conspiracy carried out against Libya.

Rev Sarath Hettiarachchi said all should condemn the subtle machinations of the imperialist nations.

Dr Assiyadd Hassan Mowlana Moulavi of the Davatagaha mosque said Western Imperialists were trying to make Libiya another Iraq.

The UN which ordered Libya to stop attacks on civilians was now remaining silent when Western powers were doing, the Thera said.
