Kottawa Dharmapala obtains good results

Kottawa Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya had obtained good results at the
GCE (O-L) examination 2010 in the Jayewardenepura Zonal Education
Division.
Over 29 students sat for the examination in English medium and all
had got through the exam acquiring qualifications to study for GCE
(A-L).
Out of 295 student who sat the examination 270 had acquired
qualifications to do Advanced level studies. Among the passes there are
two A-9 passes, 15 A-8 passes, 13 A-7 passes and 9 A-6 passes. Students
acquired Good results in Maths. There are 72 A passes, 41 B passes, 83 C
passes and 63 S passes. 85 percent students had got through in Maths. As
a whole 90 percent of the students who sat for the examination had got
through the examination acquiring qualifications to enter A-L classes.
The extra classes held on Saturdays on the advise of Education Minister
Bandula Gunawardane and the extra classes that the teacher conducted
after school hours volunteering was the main reason for the good results
school principal Y Yasaratne told the 'Daily News'. The staff and the
parents union plans to hold a felicitation ceremony under the patronage
of the Education Minister Bandula Gunawardane to felicitate the teachers
who are to be credited for the best results at the GCE (O-L) exam in
2010.
We do not have qualified teachers for the A-L classes to teach in
English medium.
If Education Department comply with our appeal to appoint qualified
teachers we wish to start A-L classes in English medium. Otherwise the
student may face difficulties finding schools, principal Y Yasaratne
said. |
