UPFA LG heads only for those obtained highest preferences

The list of Chairmen, Mayors and other heads of 205 Local Government Institutions which won by the United People's Freedom Alliance was handed over to the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake yesterday by UPFA General Secretary, Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha.

According to a UPFA decision the Committee appointed for the purpose headed by Minister Susil Premajayantha has decided to appoint to these positions only those who obtained highest number of preferences in the election. The Minister said that it was decided by the Committee to appoint only those winners to such posts and only on special reasons some appointments had been made without considering the number of their preferences.

The Minister added that no appointments were made deviating from these procedures.
