Opposition leader carrying stories

International Finance Senior Minister Dr Sarath Amunugama told an election rally on March 10 that Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was carrying stories to Western countries against President Mahinda Rajapaksa whereas he should have commended the President for ensuring peace ending 30 years of terrorist war.

Dr Amunugama was addressing the election meeting at Elotuwa Viharaya in Hataraliyedda which had been organized to solicit support of the people to the UPFA candidates contesting the Thumpane Pradeshiya Sabha in the Local Government polls.

The Minister said the duty of a politician should be to work for the welfare of the people of his country and therefore it should have been the duty of Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to praise President Mahinda Rajapaksa for ensuring peace in the country by eradicating terrorism from the land.
