Vote for UPFA, Azwer tells Malays
Sri Lanka’s Malay Community has produced in the past some of the
greatest patriots in the country. Dr T B Jayah and Justice M T Akbar
have played very significant roles in the fight for the country’s
independence and gave prestigious position for the community,
Parliamentarian A H M Azwer said.
Azwer made these observations while addressing Pradeshiya Sabha
propaganda meetings at the Bolona Malay Colony, Kirinda, 8th Colony,
Lunugamvehera, Tangalle and Nalagama. Sheikh Mujibur, Co-ordinating
Secretary to MP Namal Rajapaksa presided.
He said then came the era of Senator M D Kitchilan, M P Drahman MP.,
M Zahier Lye MP, and M H Amit, MP, with their progress policies led the
Malays for them to gain their proper position the body politics of the
country.
The Malay community thus earned the goodwill of the Governments in
power and played a major role by joining the defence forces, the
fire-brigade had contributed their share in upholding the dignity and
honour of the nation, Azwer said.
Azwer said people of Hambantota were most privileged for they have
produced a hero of world recognition in President Mahinda Rajapaksa on
whom world leaders have placed their trust and were amazed to learn how
he so successfully eradicated terrorism from the country and then taking
the country in a remarkable recovery as seldom seen in any part of the
world.
Hambantota will soon enter the Guiness Book of World Records for
being so speedily transformed into one of the most advanced places of
human habitation, he said.
It would be therefore be so comfortable for the people of the
Hambantota district to vote enthusiastically for the United Peoples’
Freedom Alliance candidates stamping a successive 18th defeat to the UNP
in Sri Lanka’s election history.
Moulavi Mubarak Abdul Majeed, Leader of the Ulema Katchchi, M Munasir
Cassim, S M Mohamed Naseerdeen (UPFA candidates), T H Shihabdeen, M A M
Jazeer, R M Fathurdeen, Namal Naotunna Jayasena and several others also
