All Local Government election propaganda activities will come to an end with effect from 12 midnight today (14), the Election Commissioner’s Office said. Accordingly, all mini election offices have to be removed before midnight today although main party offices could function till midnight on March 16.

In addition, propaganda campaigns carried out through electronic and print media will also come to an end today. The Election Commissioner Dayananda Disanayake has informed all the heads of print and electronic media institutions to wind up propaganda campaigns by 12 midnight.

The Elections Commissioner further advised the police to take stern action against those who violate election laws.
