Minister Wimal Weerawansa yesterday said he is dedicated to accomplish
the target of constructing one million houses.
He said he plans to construct two houses in each Grama Niladhari
Division each year and will have constructed 360,000 houses beginning
from next year.
Weerawansa was speaking at a house opening ceremony held in
Maharagama, where he handed over a house, built under the Ministry’s
Jana Kirula Program for the public in the Maharagama Pradeshiya Sabha
Division.
The ceremony was held to commemorate President Rajapaksa’s second
term of office. Minister Weerawansa said, “when the race for the highest
position in the country comes in six years from now, President Rajapaksa
will announce his candidature for Presidency with the target of
constructing one million houses being achieved.”
The Government has already proved that it can do what is believed and
deemed impossible by others, he said.
“The target of one million houses which Sajith Premadasa MP had once
said was something that was far from reach event to his father, I am
determined to accomplish on the directions of the President,” he said. |
