New community projects

Resettlerment Minister Gunaratna Weerakoon and Thaarunyayata Hetak President MP Namal Rajapaksa yesterday opened a number of community based facilities that have been completed in the Galle district as projects under Mahinda Chinthana's Ten Year Development Plan.

A three storey school building with a drama hall for Hippankaduwa Primary School in Nawadagala, two-storey school building for Atkadura Seevali Maha Vidyalaya in Alpitiya and a hospital facility for Hippankaduwa were opened.

Minister Weerakoon and MP Rajapaksa also opened a Cultural Centre for Karandeniya, which will be known as the Karandeniya Cultural Centre.

The hospital facility at Hippankanda has been constructed at a cost of Rs 4 million under the program.

Namal Rajapaksa MP thanked the people of Karandeniya for the support given at the last Presidential election where the public in the electorate voted the island's highest number of votes, 71.8 percent in terms of electoral votes.

Accompanying Weerakoon and Rajapaksa were Provincial Education Minister Chandima Rasaputra, MP Nishantha Mutuhettigama and several other MPs.
