Program to facilitate under privileged children

Children over 6 years of age and not attending school in view of economic difficulties are to be provided with all educational facilities.

According to Southern Provincial Education Minister Chandima Rasaputhra, the proposed programs are to be implemented in the districts of Galle, Matara and Hambantota.

On the recommendations of respective Grama Niladharis' and Samurdhi Development Officials, children are to be selected at zonal education office level in the Southern region.

The Southern Provincial Education Ministry will fund the program. Financial assistant from the World Bank is also to be solicited in this regard, Minister Chandima Rasaputhra told the "Daily News".
