Fish trade centre to open
The newly built state-of-the-art fish trade center at Peliyagoda will
be opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on March 26,said a Fisheries
and Aquatic Development Ministry's Spokesman.
According to the Ministry's sources, the new Central Fish Market
Complex built on 3.17 hectares reclaimed marshy land along the main
Katunayake airport expressway was established at a cost of Rs 1.7
billion.
The Asian Development Bank has provided Rs 675 million and the
government has provided the remainder.
The wholesale fish complex is placed on the ground floor and it will
have 148 stalls.
The top floors have been allocated for banks, post offices, police
restaurant, and a quality control room.
A 25-metric ton ice factory, three cold storages, and a water
purification plant have also been set up, the spokesman added. RD |
