Registrar to submit medical report on LC

The Supreme Court yesterday, directed the Registrar of the Court M M Jayasekera to inquire into the medical report submitted by the North Central Provincial Land Commissioner and submit a report to court on the next date of sitting July 25, 2011.

The Supreme Court Bench comprised Justice Shirani Tillekewardena, Justice Saleem Marsoof PC and Justice S I Imam.

Earlier, the Land Commissioner was arrested by Anuradhapura DIG Kithsiri Dayananda on an order of the Supreme Court and remanded till yesterday by the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Dharshika Wimalasiri.

Petitioner W A Karunaratne of the Anuradhapura Trade Centre had cited North Central Provincial Land Commissioner and ten others as respondents.

The case will be called again on July 25.

State Counsel Harsha Fernando appeared for the Attorney General.

Senior Attorney Saliya Peiris appeared for the petitioner.
