State of emergency used only for nation's benefit - PM
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa presided when
Parliament met on Thursday at 1pm. After the presentation of papers
and oral questions, the House was adjourned until 1pm on March 8.
The House took up the Adjournment Motion moved by DNA MP Anura
Kumara Dissanayake for debate.

Food prices surge worldwide
Natural disasters, oil price main reasons:
Climate change and fuel prices have been the
main causes for the surge in the prices of essential commodities ,
so that is no justification for the Opposition to try to get
political mileage out of this situation, Western Province Minister
Udaya Gammanpila said speaking at a media briefing at the National
Library Services Board Thursday.
