Navy - chess champions
Sri Lanka Navy emerged champions and ranked as No 1 out of 35 leading
teams, winning the Russian Ambassador Challenge Trophy Chess
Championship conducted by the Anatoly Karpov Chess Club of the Russian
Centre in Colombo which was concluded on February 13, 2011.
The highly prestigious chess championship open for all age group
chess players islandwide was keenly contested by the leading chess
playing schools, universities, clubs, institutions and companies in the
country.
It was held from February 11 to 13, 2011 at the Isipathana College,
Colombo in five rounds to test the true skills of the competitors.
Sports meet of Carey
The Carey College sports meet will be held at Wesley College Ground
Campbell Park at 1.30 pm on February 22 (Tuesday).
The Chief Guest will be Rohan Abeywardena (DIG Rtd)
Athletic meet of Sri Dharmaloka
The annual sport meet of Sri Dharmaloka Central College Kelaniya will
be held on February 23 at 1.00 pm at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo.
The Chief Guests are Western Province Educational Director P N
Ilapperuma, Kelaniya Province Educational Director B R Mallika
Ranasinghe and Provincial Educational Director Nilmini Perera.
Sri Dharmaloka College Principal Nimal Jayaweera, teachers and school
children will organize this ceremony. |
