Sebastianites well placed

St Sebastian’s College are in a strong position at the end of day one against St Benedict’s College, Kotahena in their inter-school Under-19 cricket match worked off at Moratuwa. In reply to Sebs modest total of 282 runs Bens were 115 for 5 with Rukshan Weerasinghe scoring 43 runs.

Earlier, for Sebs former skipper Anuk de Alwis hit a quick 91 runs with five fours and eight sixes and associated a seventh wicket partnership of 123 runs with Ishamal Fernando making 53 runs. Deshan Dias contributed 60 runs. Eranga Ratnayake took 4 for 97 for the visitors.

St Sebastian’s: 282 (Anuk de Alwis 91, Deshan Dias 60, Ishmal Fernando 53, Eranga Ratnayake 4/97, Shanoon Peterson 2/52, Waruna Dananjaya 2/22).

St Benedict’s: 115/5 (Rukshan Weerasinghe 43, Samitha de Mel 2/14, Vishva Fernando 2/38).
