Voting for UPFA the wisest thing - PM

Voting the UPFA to power is the wisest thing voters can do at the forthcoming local elections if they desired to develop their local areas, said Prime Minister D M Jayaratne when he opened a UPFA election office at Kahatapitiya Gampola Friday.

If opposition parties captured local councils at a time when the UPFA controlled the Central Government development activities in the local areas will get delayed due to unnecessary political bickering and the ultimate losers will be the voters themselves,he said.

As such voters should exercise their votes with wisdom and caution without being carried away by personal considerations regarding the candidates. The Prime Minister said that eventhough opposition parties harped on the cost of living and the increase in the prices of goods such problems would soon fade away as the Government would ensure a better future for the country soon.

The Government treated all areas and communities alike in implementing development activities in the country.

People who understood this reality always supported the Government.

Even UNP stalwarts like A R M Abdul Cader who realised this situation are now supporting the Government.
