Sarath Munaweera a former cricketer of Dharmaraja College, was
elected President of DRC Cricket Foundation for the 2011 to 2012 at the
AGM held at the Old Boys Headquarters over the week-end.
He was also the former treasurer of the OBA and has taken an active
role whenever the school is involved in sports specially in cricket.
Speaking about the Cricket Foundation, Sarath said that he intends to
promote the game of cricket in various age groups by providing the
necessary materials that will be required by the players to encourage
them in the game of cricket.
He also said that he wants to improve the old boys cricket team to
win the Olcott Trophy which is held annually between eight leading
Buddhist Schools in the island.
The Dharmaraja College Old Boys team did not win except in the year
2000 under DDP Alwis, former Sri Lanka Air Force cricketer. Sarath
further said that he wants to discuss with the school authorities, as to
the way to help the school whenever the need arises.
