TANSTIA delegation visits Sri Lanka
A delegation from Tamilnadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA)
visited Sri Lanka from January 23 to 27. TANSTIA is the apex body of
small-scale and micro industries in Tamilnadu recognized both by state
and central Governments. TANSTIA is collectively representing the
interests and serving this sector since the year 1956. All the district,
industrial estate and product wise associations are affiliated to
TANSTIA.
The delegation had a fruitful discussion with the President and the
senior officials of FCCISL on January 26 at the FCCISL. The delegation
comprised more than 20 companies representing several products and
services such as automobile components, rubber products, tourism, wood
products, printing, wire products, material handling equipment, air
conditioners, engineering services, convey services and industrial sheet
metal works. During the discussion, they showed the interest in
investing in Sri Lanka to benefit from the Indo-Sri Lanka Free Trade
Agreement.
The outcome of a subsequent meeting Tissa Jayaweera had with Finance
Deputy Minister Geethanjan Gunawardane on the possibility of allocating
lands for these entrepreneurs for the establishment of industrial units
in Sri Lanka was conveyed to the TANSTIA President and their response is
awaited to arrange a meeting with the Minister for potential investors
from India.
