Motorcyclist nabbed with 2.5 kgs of ganja

A motorcyclist with two and a half kilograms of ganja was nabbed by
the Maharagama Police at Janatha Mawatha, Navinna, Maharagama while
transporting it concealed in a schoolbag.

The suspect who is from Nugegoda said on interrogation that the ganja
was allegedly supplied to him by an Army personnel at Colombo 2.
The total value of the ganja is estimated to be Rs 100,000, Police
said.
The Police tried to trace the supplier but drew a blank. The suspect
in custody confessed that he had been involved in this business with his
Army friend for a long time and had operated in Maharagama, Nugegoda,
Homagama and Piliyandala.
Police said that the man in custody had been wanted by the
Piliyandala Police for burglary in the Piliyandala area.
The suspect was remanded by the Nugegoda Magistrate.
