SLIA annual sessions at BMICH
The Annual Sessions of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA)
will commence with the inaugural ceremony on February 23 at the BMICH.
The National Conference will be held on February 24 at the BMICH and
the Architects' Work and Trade Exhibition from February 24-27 at the
BMICH.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on February 26 at the BMICH
and the Fellowship Night on February 27 at Cinnamon Lakeside.
The theme of this year's sessions will be Architecture for all: City
plus Community.
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Indian High
Commissioner in Sri Lanka Ashok K Kantha, will be present at the
inaugural ceremony.
Construction and Engineering Services Minister Wimal Weerawansa and
the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, will be
present at the National Conference.
The sessions will also be attended by the Commonwealth Association of
Architects (CAA) President Archt Mubasshar Hussain, the Royal Institute
of British Architects President Ruth Reive delegates from CAA and the
Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) and members of the local and
global architectural fraternity, professionals, students, media and the
public.
SLIA President Archt Chandana Edirisuriya said, "Once a year, we
create a platform for architects, members of the construction industry,
trade and the public to interact.
Through this, we create and try to maintain the momentum in the
construction industry, so that it benefits those who are in the industry
as well as the public."
A key feature of the inaugural ceremony will be the presentation of
awards aimed at encouraging members to enhance the quality of their
work, while also recognising their contribution to the profession said,
SLIA Senior Vice President Archt Ranjan Nadesapillai.
Wrapping up the formal sessions will be the Annual General Meeting,
on February 26, where the new council of the SLIA will be elected, with
Archt Ranjan Nadesapillai being inducted as the new President. |
