LAWASIA Business Law conference in March
First time in Sri Lanka:
LAWASIA - a professional association of representatives of bar
councils, law associations, individual lawyers, law firms and
corporations principally from the Asia Pacific region will come together
in Sri Lanka this year for the LAWASIA Business Law Conference.

Scheduled for March 12 and 13 at the Hilton, Colombo, the Conference
will have International and Sri Lankan jurists, leading practitioners of
the legal profession, judges and investors who are experts in
international business and investment panel coming together to discuss
and share their knowledge and express their views and practical aspects
under the theme “Using the law to achieve appropriate, sustainable and
rapid economic growth”.

Shibly Aziz, P.C said the conference will have wide representation from
business lawyers, investors and will provide exposure to Sri Lankan
lawyers in the business field.
This conference is a golden opportunity given by the international
legal community to promote international trade and commerce and
investments in Sri Lanka. In addition we will be able to project a
better image of the legal system for doing business in Sri Lanka, Aziz
said. LAWASIA Executive Committee Member and Conference Organizing
Committee Chairman Sunil D B Abeyaratne said “Business Law is a
developing area of the law in the Asia Pacific region including Sri
Lanka and 400 local participants comprising of senior and junior members
of the Bar, judges, investors, entrepreneurs and Government officials
who are involved in international trade and commerce locally will be
benefited from the conference.
“We have make plans to provide conference materials to all branches
of the BASL and ministries in the country”.
