World Cup squad for the ODI Series vs Windies
The national cricket selectors yesterday named the World Cup squad
for the rescheduled three match one day international series against the
West Indies which begins on Monday at the SSC ground in Maitland Place.
The second match of the series will be played on February 3 followed
by the third and final one day international on February 6 with both
matches at the SSC ground. Initially these matches were scheduled to be
played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in
Hambantota and R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo
which had been identified as World Cup venues.
However Sri Lanka Cricket announced that on a directive issued by the
International Cricket Council (ICC) to the effect that no games should
be played at any of the World Cup venues, SLC were compelled to make the
changes for this series.

West Indies: Darren Sammy (Captain), Christopher Gayle, Adrian
Barath, Devon Smith, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh
Sarwan, Dwayne Bravo, Carlton Baugh, Sulieman Benn, Nikita Miller, Kemar
Roach, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Ravindranath Rampaul.
Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara (Captain), Mahela Jayawardena ,
Upul Tharanga, T.M Dilshan, Thilan Samaraweera, Chamara Silva, Chamara
Kapugedara, Angelo Mathews, Tisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekera, Lasith
Malinga, Dilhara Fernando, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis, Rangana
Herath.
