SPC Ministry Secretary dies

Southern Provincial Ministry Secretary M W Wijethilake who was receiving treatment at the ICU of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Galle following the fatal accident last Monday succumbed to his injuries yesterday.

Wijethilake (49), an SLAS Grade One official first joined the public service as a Kamburupitiya Assistant Divisional Secretary in 1990. He later served as Thihagoda Divisional Secretary from 1995 to 1999. He assumed duties as Rubber Development Department Southern Province Commissioner in 2000 and worked till 2002. From 2002 to 2006 he was the SPC Secretary. Since 2006 he was the Chief Ministry Secretary.

His remains are lying at his residence, St Ritas Place, Hapugala, Galle and will be brought to Southern Provincial Chief Ministry, Upper Dickson Road at 2pm Saturday.

The funeral will take place on Saturday at 4pm at Samanala Grounds, Galle.
