The very much anticipated Multi Sports event “Carlton Super Sports 2011” will be held from January 28 to 30 at Thissamaharama on a grand scale. The event is held for the fifth consecutive year under a concept of the Tharunyata Hetak Chairman and Hambanthota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa to widen youth participation in sports.

The main event, Carton Super Cross will continue along with a series of sporting opportunities for everyone while the open Triathlon which will be held for the first time in Sri Lanka being the cynosure of all eyes.

In addition to all these events a series of musical shows with the participation of popular music bands will be on stage for the masses who are expected to visit the Festival on these three days.

There will be a convoy organized by the 4 x 4 Club which will proceed to Tissamaharama from Colombo on January 28 to start the big event. The organizers expect more than 1000 competitors for the whole festival.

The Triathlon event includes 750 m swimming, 20 km cycling followed by a 5 km marathon. The winners in the sporting events will receive valuable cash prizes. Already ten rowing clubs have confirmed participation for the rowing event while the motorcycling events will see two Indian riders in action.

The mountain bike races will be on a new track while the specialty will be ‘ride for fun’ event for the guests.

The cross country race will be through Ranmihithenna and from Kandevihara downhill and this event has also attracted some foreign riders this year.
