He was addressing a meeting at the Rambukkana Community Hall on
Sunday to mark the opening of several development projects and
facilities in Rambukkana on the invitation of Sabaragamuwa Chief
Minister Maheepala Herath and Kegalle District MP Kanaka Herath.
The facilities included the Hiriwadunna Diyagama bridge, Rambukkana
Railway station road and the Rambukkana SLFP branch office. Any member
of the SLFP led UPFA can now go before the people without any hesitation
as the President has created the necessary environment for it by
launching a giant development drive in the rural sector.
Everyone will stand to gain from this development work covering the
entire length and breadth of the country.
He said that the Government had also initiated an attitudinal change
in the vocational training sector to produce qualified professionals for
the local and foreign job market.
Namal Rajapaksa said members of the SLFP led UPFA are coming before
the people after taking steps to improve their living standards.
Namal Rajapaksa said that there was a big demand by people seeking
SLFP nominations to contest the forthcoming polls. He requested the
people to mark a vote for the betel leaf first and then mark the
preference vote for a candidate who would be useful for their council.
Namal Rajapaksa also distributed housing assistance worth Rs 5.1
million set apart by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council among 357 low
income families in the Kegalle District and sports items among
representatives of 70 sports clubs in the district.
Financial contributions made by SLFP branch offices in Rambukkana
towards the construction of the Rambukkana SLFP office were also handed
over to Namal Rajapaksa on this day.
National Heritage Minister Dr Jagath Balasuriya, Senior Minister
Athauda Seneviratne, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council vice Chairman
Jayatillake Podinilame and several other Provincial Council members were
also present. |
