The Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union has appointed New Zealander Ellis
Meachen as the coach of the national team.
Meachen is an experienced coach who has moulded the Romanian national
team into a formidable outfit and has also been in charge of the New
Zealand under 21 team in the role of Technical Advisor. He is a coach
with a proven track record and his presence will benefit the Sri Lanka
national team immensely, said the Secretary of the SLRFU Shane Dullewa.
He has been contracted for a period of four months and his task will
be to coach the Sri Lanka national 15-a-side team for the Asian Five
Nations Tournament in April and May this year. He will train the
63-member national pool from which the final 22-member squad will be
picked for the matches against United Arab Emirates on April 23 and Hong
Kong on May 7 in Colombo and the two away games against Kazakhstan on
May 14 and Japan on May 21. |
