Police officer dies in accident

Sub Inspector Sampath Chaturanga of Peliyagoda police succumbed to his injuries received in a road accident at Kalagedihena on Monday.

Chaturanga was riding on his motorcycle on Colombo-Kandy road when a CTB bus knocked him down at Kalagedihena.

The pillion rider who is also attached to the Peliyagoda police who was injured too, and is receiving treatment at Gampaha hospital.

Nittambuwa police have taken the bus driver into custody and inquires are continuing.
