Several programs to mark Int'l Youth Year

Several programs will be held to make the International Youth Year meaningful, Youth Affairs and Skills Development Secretary S S Hewapathirana said at a meeting at the Youth Affairs and Skills Development Ministry auditorium yesterday. The International Youth Year started on August 12, 2010 and will be held until August 12, 2011.

The best upcoming youth (male and female) in various sectors will be selected by the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM).

The Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI) and Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET) will conduct a program to select best new inventors of the year.

The National Youth Services Council (NYSC) has also organized a series of programs named 'top 20'. This will feature 20 programs which includes a musical program - 'golden singer', a bicycle race, allied camps, and youth parks.

The construction of 332 houses representing each Divisional Secretariat will also be underway to mark the year.

Other institutions under the Youth Affairs and Skills Development Ministry will also participate.
