New cafeteria at National Museum

National Museum Department records indicate that over 2.5million
visitors visit the National Museum in Colombo annually. In comparison
with other museums of the world this number is very small. Therefore we
should take steps to increase the number of visitors to the museum,
National Heritage Minister Jagath Balasuriya said. He was speaking at
the opening ceremony of the new cafeteria at the National Museum in
Colombo yesterday.
The new cafeteria was built at a cost of Rs 41 million. This
cafeteria can provide foods for a hundred individuals at a time.
The National Museum Building is a national symbol of the country.
This institute is 134 years old.But there was no cafeteria for local and
foreign visitors visiting the museum.
National Heritage Ministry Secretary Kanthi Wijethunga, Additional
Secretary Renuka Ekanayake, National Museum Director Nanda
Wickramasinghe, National Archives Department Director also participated
at this event. |
