Turnover tops Rs 4.2 billion

The market continued its growth in the daily turnover and closed high yesterday. High interest were indicated in plantation, power and energy sector stocks.

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed at 6,809.73 points gaining 55.42 points while Milanka Price Index (MPI) closed at 7,194.5 points up by 38.14 points. The turnover for the day was over Rs 4.2 billion.

Speaking to the Daily News Business Asia Wealth Management Company Research Analyst Nirmala Samarawickrama said transactions over Rs 20 million were noticed from John Keells Holdings (3), Richard Pieris and Companies, Janashakthi Insurance, Dialog Axiata and Hotel Services. John Keells Holdings (17.8%), Laugf Gas (7.3%), Richard Pieris and Companies (6.8%), Ceylon Grain Elevators (5.7%) and Three Acre Farms (3.3%) were top contributors for the day.
