Trinity make it seven-in-a row

Trinity College Kandy survived few anxious moments before recording their seventh successive outright victory this season while overcoming Wesley College by one wicket in a thrilling inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which concluded at Campbell Park yesterday.

Wesley: 147 and 205 (S. Thawfeeq 21, A. Fonseka 22, R. Sooriyakumara 21, J. Kadiramanpulle 21, M. Muzammil 32, T. Karunaratne 34, A. Jayasundera 2 for 41, A. Anaz 2 for 67, K. Premasinghe 3 for 26).

Trinity: 272 for 6 decl and 84 for 9 (D. Wickremanayake 23, D. Batholomuesz 6 for 40, S. Jayawardena 2 for 7).

Bens take major honours

Spinner Eranga Ratnayake returned excellent figures of six wickets for 48 as St. Benedict's College took major honours in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against St. Peter's College which ended in a draw at Kotahena yesterday.

St Benedict's: 283 for 9 decl

St. Peter's: 220 (S. Fernando 65, D. Perera 20, T. Jayawardena 65, N. Perera 23, J. Kannangara 20, E. Ratnayake 6 for 48, R. Fernando 2 for 46) and 64 for 3 (D. Perera 22 n.o, S. Fernando 27 n.o).

Thomians excel

S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia took first innings honours over Maliyadeva College in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which ended in a draw at Kurunegala yesterday.

S. Thomas': 236

Maliyadeva: 130 (S. Perera 4 for 15, N. Wickremasekera 4 for 19) and 190 (N. Wickremasekera 4 for 24, M. Ravichandrakumara 2 for 16, S. Perera 2 for 12)

Sebastinites force a draw

St Sebastian's College, Moratuwa drew with St Joseph's College, Colombo in their inter-school Under-19 cricket match concluded at Moratuwa.

Sebs commenced the day two with a deficit of 159 runs batted throughout the day courageously and at the close they were 349 for 8.

Opener Deshan Dias missed a well deserved Century by one-run and had a second wicket partnership of 102 runs with Oshada Fernando who made 47 runs.

Marlon Fernando scored 54 runs while the skipper Charith Fernando was unbeaten on 72 runs. Ravin Perumal took 3 for 62 runs for the visitors.

Chief scores:

St Sebastian's: 56 and 349/8 (Deshan Dias 99, Oshada Fernando 47, Marlon Fernando 54, Charith Fernando 72 n.o, Anuk de Alwis 21, Rosco Thattil 2/95, Ravin Perumal 3/62, Dimithri Cooray 2/56).
