Over 3,170 aesthetic graduates to be recruited

A program has been formulated in provide employment to unemployed aesthetic graduates. Under this program 3,174 aesthetic graduates would be recruited, said Education Deputy Minister Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza in Parliament yesterday.

He said that existing vacancies of aesthetic teachers in the school system for the Sinhala and Tamil Medium would be filled. Aesthetic graduates would be recruited for Eastern Music, Dancing, Arts, Drama and Performing Art and Western Music.

The Minister noted that 1,939 aesthetic teachers would be recruited for the Sinhala Medium, while 1,235 would be recruited for the Tamil Medium.

He also said that the first round of interviews started on November 15, 2010 and 704 persons were called for the interview, while 691 persons faced the interviews.

Further steps regarding the appointments are being taken by the Education Ministry he added.

He was responding to a question raised by DNA MP Ajith Kumara.
