Sunil Match Commissioner for Asia Cup

The Asian Football Confederation has appointed Sri Lanka's Sunil Senaweera as one of the match Commissioners for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2011.

The tournament is scheduled to be held in Qatar from January 7-29.

Senaweera, a FIFA qualified referee has earlier done assignments in many countries where the AFC conducted its tournaments.

He has served as Match Commissioner in AFC Cup finals in Syria (2005), Japan (2006), Singapore (2007) and Australia (2008). He was also considered as one of the Best three Match Commissioners in Asia by Asia's governing body for the sport.

Senaweera also serves the AFC and FIFA as one of its referee Inspectors. His latest appointment is also the first for a Sri Lankan to officiate as a Match Commissioner in a Asia Cup.

Senaweera will leave for Qatar next week.
