“I wish to say that the Zoom magazine is not a result of my effort
alone. It is a collaborative effort by a fantastic group of people. Yoga
Galhena – Editor- in-Chief was terrific. Zoom is indebted to her. It
would be correct to say that zoom is the result of her hard work,”
Chairman D R S Liyanage said.
“Zoom is a magazine that was in the making for a long time. We spoke
to individuals from almost every field to find out their needs and
feelings on every aspect of society. Zoom is a magazine for all sorts of
things and various people. It is not limited to one age group or a
particular type of person.
“We spoke to youth, to students and models. Zoom is coming out for
the first time. There is still things to learn as we are just getting
started and coming out. We are in a joint venture with an Indian company
called Image Group of Companies. We are launching five of their
magazines - beauty, business and job banking,” added Liyanage.
“The world is changing rapidly and we must change with the changing
world. This is the opportune time since the war is over. In Sri Lanka
this is the time for the arts to flourish. In this time of peace the
greatest need is the development of the country.

This cannot be done by a single individual or a group of people
alone. A majority of the society must be involved in this. Zoom of DRS
Holdings is proud to be involved in this exciting effort. Lifestyles are
changing in this world.
Zoom calls upon the youth. Zoom wants to be involved in the youth
because the youth are the future of this country. The youth are new,
exciting and full of potential,” says Editor-in-Chief Yoga Galhena.
The youth need leadership and Zoom intends on providing direction.
Zoom is always strengthened by debate and criticism. Zoom calls everyone
to join the tide of the changing world. It will be a long journey. The
tale of this journey can only be told by the media. We cannot tread this
path alone without the media.
“Without looking to the West for fashion we have to focus on our
unique Sri Lankan identity in fashion. This is for men, women, young
people and the elderly.
That is what Zoom is about. Zoom has so many categories; fashion,
education , sports and lifestyle” said Chairman Rohan Liyanage.
“I also want to thank my wife Sewwandi Liyanage. The editors, the
marketing team and the library all played their parts,” Liyanage
concluded.
