Mullaitivu Sports Festival concludes
Yasaratne GAMAGE in Mullaitivu
The finals of the Mulliativu District Sports Festival was worked off
at the Oddusuddan School ground on Tuesday. The events were organized by
Tharunyata Hetak organization under the patronage of Member of
Parliament Member Namal Rajapaksa.
The sporting activities were held under three categories - inter
schools, inter club and security forces.
The Inter School Cricket final was between Vidyananda Maha Vidyalaya
and Mullaitivu Vidyalaya while St. Jude’s Sports Club played against
Viththiya Sports Club in the club final.
Air Force cricket team Mullaitivu met Security Forces Head Quarters
(SFHQ) team in the inter force cricket final.
In the soccer final Mullaitivu Government Tamil School met (GTMS)
Kachchilamadu GTMS and Alampil Sports Club (SC) played against St.
Jude’s SC. Vijayaba Infantry Regiment 18 played against Gemunu Watch 19.
Kachchimadu Vidyalaya vs Vidyananda College was the only match in the
Netball final played at the same venue.
Cricket. Inter School limited over.
Vidyananda College beat Mullaitivu Vidyalaya by seven runs.
Vidyananda College 66 for 8 in 10 overs. (Ravindran 10, Vinod ,
Sujipawan 9, Kobirajan 2 for 6, Piharman 2 for 12).
Mullaitivu Vidyalaya 60 for 9 (Sanjeewan 11, Suvendran 9, S Miraj 3
for 12, M Maththaran 2 for 5) Man of the match - Sivaguru Piharvan,
Vidyananda College.
Inter Club.
St Jude SC beat Viththiya SC by 7 runs.
St Jude SC 56 for 8 (Sewendran 20, S Pradesh 2 for 7)
Viththiya SC 50 for 9 (Vinoj 10, Yenowan 8, Thewran 2 for 6, S Miraj
2 for 10).

Security forces
Air Force won by 8 runs. Air Force 67 for 9 (Chandana 14, Vimukthi
13, Jayantha 2 for 4, Sameer 1 for 5)
SFHQ 59. (Ifraan 23, Madusanka 1 for 3, Mendis 2 for 9).

Mullaitivu GTMS beat Kachchilamadu GTMS to 6-2
Inter club - St Jude’s beat Alampil Sports Club to 1-0
Security Forces - Vijayaba Infantry Regiment won 1-0 to Gemunu Watch
Regiment.
The awards ceremony was held at Vidyananda College Ground later in
the evening. Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Minister Yapa
Abeywardena, Minister Dilan Perera, MP Namal Rajapaksa, several senior
higher ranking officials in the security forces were present at the
occasion.
