Sri Lanka High Commission in London celebrates X'mas
The Sri Lanka High Commission in London celebrated Christmas on
December 23, with the participation of Sri Lankans living in the UK
representing Christians as well as Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims.

The event commenced with a welcome speech by High Commissioner
Justice Nihal Jayasinghe.
He highlighted the significance of Christmas and said that he was
pleased to see the number of Sri Lankans gathered there to celebrate the
important event of the Christians.
He said that the Christians in Sri Lanka can now join the Christians
world over, in joyous celebrations, sharing the spirit of festival, in
an environment of peace.
Christian religious observances were performed by Fr Rohitha Rodrigo,
Catholic Chaplain for Sri Lankans in the UK. Carols were sung by the
Children's International Voices Choir led by Dr June.
Deputy High Commissioner P M Amza delivered the vote of thanks.
The High Commission premises were decorated with Christmas
decorations including illuminations. A reception was also held in honour
of the guests. |
