Technology will uplift living standards

Priority must be given to technology and research sectors:

The living standard of Sri Lankans' would be uplifted through a technological revolution, said Technology and Research Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

She was addressing a ceremony to hand over appointment letters to the newly recruited 171 Field Officers for the Vidatha Resources Centres.

The Minister that the Government had identified that priority should be given to the technology and research sector.

Consequently, President Mahinda Rajapaksa had allocated Rs 1,000 million for the Ministry.

"We have massive economic targets and the Ministry has an important role to play to develop the country and eliminate poverty.

"A technological revolution would enhance the rural economy," she said.
