Businessman shot dead at home

A millionaire businessman shot by two unidentified gunmen died while being rushed to Chilaw hospital, Anamaduwa police said. The two gunmen wearing uniform similar to that of the Army had come to Businessman W S Joseph's home in Anamaduwa on a motorbike last Friday.

One of them had opened fire with a T 56 weapon and had disappeared, police said.

Joseph was involved in exporting Kothala Hibutu (a rare herbal medicine) on a mass scale and was also supplying metal. Puttalam Divisional Judge and Magistrate S Herath conducted investigations at the scene of the crime. Anamaduwa police are investigating.
