Out of 1,400 officials, 454 members, including 11 officers and 443
soldiers who underwent a nine month Special Forces training program,
passed out on Saturday at the Maduruoya Special Forces Training School.
The Special Force was formed with 35 members in 1985 by the Sri Lanka
Army aiming to achieve unachievable goals specially in the humanitarian
mission. Measures had been later taken to increase the human resources
of the Special Force as the unit was an icon in military forces.
According to these initiatives, the Maduruoya Training School was
established in 1992. |
