Universities haunted by conspirators - NCP CM
students should understand that the Universities are being haunted by
conspirators and saboteurs when entering the University and one should
not fall prey to such categories, North Central Province Chief Minister
Berty Premalal Dissanayake said.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the Swarnapali Balika National
School's annual prize-giving ceremony recently.
University Grants Commission Chairman Prof Gamini Samaranayake said
the students who leave school as highly disciplined, lot behave in a
contradictory manner once they entered the University. When observing
the somewhat indecent and undisciplined activities of the University
students, the Universities resemble, captive or unliberated zones, Prof
Samaranayake was delivering keynote address at the annual prize-giving
ceremony said.
Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake was the Chief Guest. Prof
Samaranayake said the University administration would not hesitate at
all to eradicate the unsuitable and unwarranted behaviours of the
undergraduate community including the ragging from the University
network.
"At school level the students maintain a high degree of discipline
resulting from the care and vigilance shown by the parents. But it is a
pity that once the child is in the University, the parents visit them
only at the admission and the convocation, creating a huge space between
the two parties," the UGC Chairman emphasized. |
