Alpha acquires furniture factory

The labour market in the country is not supplying enough human
resource to the manufacturing industry because the service and leisure
sector absorbs most of the human resource.
The service and leisure industry gets an adequate human resource
because these industries have opened up with many opportunities in the
current economic context.
Having understood the scarcity of human resource for manufacturing
industry, Alpha Industries (Pvt) Ltd., identified a proper strategy to
encourage youth from every district of the country to join the company
by encouraging them giving necessary facilities such as accommodation,
Alpha Industries (Pvt) Ltd., Marketing General Manager Jeremy David told
Daily News Business. Alpha Industries [Pvt] Ltd., has acquired a solid
wood manufacturing factory complex in Tewatte in Ragama with an extent
of three acres.
"We identified the industry more lucrative as there are many hotels
and corporate offices opening in the country. Alpha therefore will
aggressively target the leisure industry of the country and it will be
one of the reasons of acquiring this new facility," David said. He said
that Alpha Industries [Pvt] Ltd., considering the customer demand moved
into the solid wood manufacturing and commenced its operation early this
month. The company will be able to cater to the need of the country
including the Northern and the Eastern areas.
This is the first time Alpha Industries (Pvt) Ltd., ventured into
solid wood manufacturing.
Alpha Industries (Pvt) Ltd., will utilize the existing distribution
channel and will cater to the domestic market. Alpha will also consider
the export market in the future.
"We will be able to provide 50 employment opportunities and we expect
to double the employment capacity within a year.
"Alpha will face the competition in the industry not as a top end
furniture supplier but as a middle end furniture supplier," he said. |
