Dilshan Ananda's Sports Star

Dilshan Kariyawasam awarded the Col G W Rajapaske Trophy for the Most Outstanding Sports Star 2010 at the Ananda Colours Nite at the Kularatne Hall last Wednesday.

Kariyawasam who won the Ananda Padma award in 2007 was not considered for this years Padma Award but was judged as the Most Outstanding Sportsman of 2010 for representing the country at the Youth Olympics held at Singapore this year. He has been ranked Number Four in the Asian Region.

One hundred and five sportsmen were awarded colours for their outstanding performances at international level.

Major General Kamal Gunaratne, a distinguished Old Boy of Ananda College, who is the present Commander in Chief of Wanni and who commanded the 57 Brigade was the Chief Guest. The Ananda Padma Award winners for 2010:

Badminton: Sahan Ratnayake, Pramuditha Ambeygoda.

Hockey: Thanuka Tennekoon.

Swimming: Rasith Chalanga, Pathum Edirisinghe.
