Tourism looks for high spenders

SLAITO organizes Products Meet Mart:

The tourism industry in Sri Lanka will concentrate in promoting Sri Lanka as a tourist destination mainly in European countries. Tourists from European countries are heavy spenders and long stayers and it will be advantageous for Sri Lanka to tap those markets, Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Dr. Nalaka Godahewa said.

Asia Capital makes Rs 222 m profit

Asia Capital has achieved Rs 222 million net profits for the year ending March 2010. This is a complete turnaround for the group of companies compared to a Rs. 379.2 million loss in the year 2009.

Guide to doing business in Sri Lanka: Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa receives the first edition of the booklet, ‘A step by step guide to doing business in Sri Lanka’ from Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal recently. Deputy Governor K G D D Dheerasinghe looks on. Assistant Governor C J P Siriwardena and Statistics Department acting Director A S de Alwis were present. An updated edition of this publication including measures for improving the ease of doing business in Sri Lanka as introduced in the Budget 2011, is due to be published in the first quarter of 2011.
