A Mini World Cup softball six-a-side cricket tournament organised by Sri Lanka Cricket will be worked off at Police grounds, Kandy this Saturday commencing at 8 am.

Thirty two teams have entered this softball cricket tournament and according to Malcolm Perera, Manager Coaching and Cricket Development of Sri Lanka Cricket that the winners of this tournament will meet the champions from three other districts where similar tournaments will be conducted.

The eventual champions will play a team drawn from Sri Lanka's World Cup winning team of 1996 which is likely to included players of the calibre like skipper Arjuna Ranatunga, Arvinda de Silva, Hashan Tillakaratne, Romesh Kaluwitharne and many others early part of next year in a carnival like atmosphere.
